JSC ‘Nenskra Hydro’, Nenskra hydropower plant project company, has released a statement in relation to the situation in the village of Chuberi in Mestia Municipality.
On the 5th of July, the Nenskra River flooded the central part of Chuberi village and due to the natural disaster, roads and bridges were damaged.
According to some media news reports, the situation is directly related to the construction of the Nenskra HPP.
JSC Nenskra Hydro would like to clarify that the company has temporarily ceased its operations since the beginning of 2018. Moreover, the latest works were only to rehabilitate the existing road and bridges. The natural disaster, in fact, occurred 5 km away from the construction site, downstream of the river. Hence, the natural disaster is no, in any way, related to the Nenskra HPP construction.
The staff of JSC “Nenskra Hydro” is in continuous communication with the local community members. The company will do its best to mobilize the equipment to provide necessary assistance to the local population.
